Emmerdale’s Summer Fate – Behind the scenes

It’s time for another epic soap land disaster, and this time is over at Emmerdale.

So take a look behind the scenes of the creative little promo trailer. I personally love the contrast and use of black juxtaposed with the happiness and light portrait by the some of the characters, not forgetting play on words in #SummerFate.

Nice one Emmerdale!

Head over to itv.com to watch the behind the scene vid for the trailer.

Petition · European Parliament: Save the Freedom of Photography! · Change.org

On 9 July 2015, the European Parliament might destroy photography. The Freedom of taking photos in public places is under attack. Until now, in most countries in Europe you were safe to take and publish photographs that are taken from public ground – This is called Freedom of Panorama. When you were on vacation, you could take a photo from the London Eye and share it with your friends on Facebook*. If someone wanted to pay you for using this photo, that was okay as well. Both is about to change may destroy photography as we know it.   Julia Reda, member of the European Parliament, tried to bring the Freedom of Panorama to all countries of the EU , as few countries like France and Italy don’t have such law yet. In the majority of countries such as the UK, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria and Croatia, you’re safe to take, publish and sell photos of public buildings when taken from public grounds.   However, the current draft turned the proposal upside down .  Instead of bringing the Freedom of Panorama  to the few countries that don’t know such law yet,  it would take it away from all those who do . With this, Street-, Travel- and Architecture-Photography would be dead as we know it. It is impossible to find out the architect of every public building in order to ask for permission before you can publish and possibly sell the photo.   I therefore call on the members of the European Parliament to Not limit the Freedom of Panorama in any way and instead to Bring the Freedom of Panorama to all member states of the EU so that the European Citizens can be assured to act within the law when taking and publishing photographs from public buildings anywhere in the European Union. This is necessary to embrace our European Culture and Art!   For the media, please see:  https://www.facebook.com/Sumfinity/posts/502360496584684 *As Julia Reda, member of the European Parliament, points out, even the private upload of a photograph on Facebook would need the consent of the architect, as with the upload you grant Facebook a license to commercially use the photograph.

Top Major Lazer Kinetic Typography Motion Graphics

Do you may remember way back in 2010 when I created Urban Maestro’s kinetic typo for Adidas Kreps? Well that was my first outing into the world of Kinetic Typography and my first full length animated music video!

Creating it took about 4 weeks (including crashes during rendering!), so whenever I hear another epic piece of work from one of my favourite “electronic music groups”, Major Lazer, I can’t wait to see their “official lyric video” offering for said tune.

So with their up and coming Tour, and our love for kinetic typo motion graphics, I have put together this playlist of our Top Major Lazer animated vids.

Enjoy!!

Academic subjects alone won’t ‘set every child up for life’

After working in eduction for a number of years, it was becoming clear to me that creativity and the arts were being suffocated and pitted against traditional academic subjects such as English, Maths and Science.

Maybe it was due to government incentives and league tables, but for whatever reason. Creative art departments and, classes were being cut and courses being dropped in favour of triple Sciences, which as an artist, was frustrating to witness.

The Guardian takes a look at this subject in their article: Academic subjects alone won’t ‘set every child up for life’

Employers are crying out for recruits who are creative. The notion that arts and music are not seen as ‘hard’ enough subjects is damaging to the economy

Flags – What We Can Learn From Flag Design

For as long as I can remember I have always loved flags! I used to spend hours looking at my giant atlas of the world with the flags in the back. What the do the colours mean? What is the history of the flag? What do the stars, triangles, diagonals mean? What is the story of the badge coat of arms? So many people hold their flags with pride knowing the country they are from whilst without knowing what they represent. For many it’s part of their identity, but what are we identifying with?

These thoughts also come into many aspects of design. Be it logos or architecture, these things in some way represent us and attempt to illustrate what we stand for.

Roman Mars is also obsessed with flags — and after you watch this TED talk, you might be, too.

“These ubiquitous symbols of civic pride are often designed, well, pretty terribly. But they don’t have to be. In this surprising and hilarious talk about vexillology — the study of flags — Mars reveals the five basic principles of flag design and shows why he believes they can be applied to just about anything.”

Berlin Carnival Weekend 2015 – Photowalk

When you think of Berlin, or more so Germany, what springs to mind? Take a look at what we discovered, during our time and work with Rollers-Inc.  For us Berlin is a real hub of #creativity. Street art can be found wall to wall, juxtaposed with new and modern towers and converted warehouses which are beginning to line the Spree.  Join Craig, Letitia and Berlin’s First Lady of Rollers-Inc, Julia, on our photo walks during the Karneval Der Kulturen weekend…

5 Creative Design & Marketing Elements of the UK General Election 2015

Did you think about the design and how much marketing went into persuading us to vote for a particular party?

Like me did you think how much did it cost to make that big old slab Ed Millibank was carrying around?

Ever wondered how much all this costs and where do these parties get the money from?

Well We take a look at some of the designs and marketing ploys used by today’s politicians to woo us, as well as elements broadcasters have used in the run up to May 7th 2015.

1. Battle Buses

Buses of all shapes and sizes from all colours of the political spectrum have be covered from top to bottom with large print vinyl and vehicle wraps. Even LBC Radio took to the road in their mobile broadcasting hub.

3. Good Old Billboards

This year there seems to be a cut back on good honest poster design! To me the I’ve seen better Photoshop skills on Instagram and Twitter. Or maybe that’s just it… they want to make them look amateurish to appeal to the likes of us! Who knows?!

5. Election in Music

ITV News interestingly chose Kanye West’s Power for it’s trailer music, hinting towards a hung parliment or coalition??

Step Fwd: 7 Questions for Elisha Myton – Acting, Playing Leah, & ‘Venus Vs Mars’

Elisha Myton Venus Vs MarsWondered what this ‘Venus Vs Mars’ is all about? Who IS Elisha you’ve been talking about? We ask our #TeamJiggy ‘queen of the stage’ Elisha Myton about getting in to acting, playing the feisty Leah and getting into Venus Vs Mars.

Craig Jiggy: Can you tell us abit about yourself and how you first got into acting?

Elisha Myton: I’ve been acting since around the age of 6/7years old. I’ve always loved acting from a very early age and I got involved in as many plays/theatre productions & musicals as I could from my early school and college days; and it all started from there really. I’ve done a lot of short films, plays & online content. I’m also a Singer, Song-writer and Poet & I have performed in quiet a few talent shows and competitions.

CJ: So how did you get involved in Venus Vs Mars?

EM: Well I’ve been a fan of Baby Isako’s writing for some time now, having seen some of her theatre productions like: ‘Bag Ladies’ & ‘Love is a Losing Game’. I actually accidentally stumbled across Venus Vs Mars online one day – when I was on YouTube and I was instantly glued. I thought to myself I’d love to be in something this! Why didn’t I know about the auditions. It’s a change from the usual stereotypical stuff I often see out there. And I could actually relate to it. That day I just said to myself if there’s another series I have to be in it. And that was it. Then I heard about the casting for series 2 online – i was so excited, I auditioned and the rest is history!

CJ: Can you tell us a little bit more about your character Leah & does she share any similar character traits to you?

EM: Yeah, so I play the character of Leah (Venus’ cousin) in Venus Vs Mars. Leah is very …. Interesting lol to say the least. She’s fiery, extremely protective of her cousin and very superstitious. Leah actually has a lot of layers to her – although she comes across as quite hard and tough, she’s also going through her own demons. Leah is a lot more aggressive than me – but she is very caring, loving and protective of her cousin Venus and those are traits that I share. Leah definitely livens up the party when she’s around, I hope you all enjoy watching her as the series unfolds.

CJ: So Venus Vs Mars is a UK all black online rom-com series turned TV drama. What an accomplishment to be commissioned by SkyLiving. What can people do to help support Venus Vs Mars?

EM: Yeah it really is such a great achievement. I’m So proud and happy to be apart of this production & I salute Baby Isako (writer), Victor Adebodun (director), Delia-Rene Donaldson; & all the cast members… We’ve taken the first step to bringing Venus vs Mars on to the TV platform however, in order to make a second series & hopefully transmit worldwide – we really need you guys to tune in every week! Tweet, blog, post on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter. Just spread the word to as many people as possible. Keep the buzz alive and just support the movement really. Also follow Venus vs Mars on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram.

CJ: Tell me, how does it feel when you get messages from fans giving you props?

EM: It’s really breathtaking and humbling at the same time. I’ve had some really amazing, kind comments & it makes me feel that my acting skills are being acknowledged and enjoyed! It also made me quiet emotional which is rare for me – I was so touched by some of the comments I’ve seen. I’m so happy the viewers are enjoying my character Leah.

CJ: Where can we find out more about what your doing/ways to contact you?

EM: I’m on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter! So you can keep up-to-date with what I’m doing next & keep supporting me by following either of these mediums. Twitter: @ElishaMyton Instagram: @ElishaMyton I am also currently looking for an Agent – so please fell free to contact me also lol Elisha@jiggycreationz.co.uk

CJ: Lastly, can you tell us any spoilers for the remaining of Venus vs Mars?

EM: Nah I’m sorry you have to tune in for that. My lips are sealed. What I will say is this – it’s all brand new unseen footage here on in & you definitely need to tune in! It’s worth the watch. Tune in Thursday’s at 11pm & 11:30pm for a double whammy of Venus Vs Mars on SkyLiving Thanks a lot!
